Fall Retreat at UMBS

Last weekend, the Pelini lab took advantage of a brief Fall break by venturing up to the University of Michigan Biological Station. There, we assisted Rob Baroudi in collecting his litter decomposition bags which he is using to measure decomposition rates across a chronoburn-sequence disturbance gradient. On Sunday morning, the new graduate students were able to meet with UMich post-doc Dr. Pierre Joseph Hatton to familiarize themselves with the wide variety of facilities and resources available at UMBS. Later, we enjoyed the beautiful autumn weather by taking a trip up to the UP to visit Tahquamenon Falls (pictured above) and capped off the day with a drink at the local brewery.
